Eddie’s wife, Julie, had terminal cancer, and he initially believed he could manage her care independently. When the hospital arranged practical in-home support through Mingary Care, he discovered a community of compassionate helpers.
“Mingary Care supported us for three months. I didn’t think I needed any help,” Eddie explained. “I soon discovered that wasn’t the case. I had absolutely no idea what I needed in this situation. As you come to terms with the day-to-day reality the fatigue starts to set in.”
The organisation provided weekly house cleaning and a shower chair that made significant practical differences. The presence of supportive people fundamentally shifted Eddie’s emotional experience during this difficult period.
“Having people around to help made me realise I wasn’t alone. It absolutely eased the physical and emotional toll of caring for my wife,” he shared.
Eddie’s closing remarks reflected deep appreciation: “I just can’t believe how kind and compassionate they have been. I cannot fault one person I have met at Mingary Care. They make the world a better place.”
