Matthew’s Story: Grateful to Find Support

For individuals under 65 requiring palliative and end-of-life care, funding options remain severely limited, and accessing government assistance presents substantial obstacles. Numerous people in genuine need slip through the cracks, unable to obtain essential support during vulnerable periods.

Matthew’s experience illustrates this gap. After receiving a terminal illness diagnosis, he felt uncertain about available resources. A social worker’s referral connected him with Mingary Care, providing swift relief without bureaucratic delays.

“I didn’t know this support was available, but I am so grateful for Mingary Care,” Matthew explained. He noted that Home Care Packages typically route through My Aged Care, which excludes him based on age requirements. Similarly, NDIS eligibility didn’t apply to his situation.

“I was feeling quite stuck. Mingary Care responded immediately and they provided exactly what I needed,” Matthew shared. The organisation supplied furniture including a bed, couch, and refrigerator. Beyond material assistance, Mingary Care coordinated comprehensive house cleaning and pest control services.

Mingary Care distinguishes itself through a rapid-response operational model addressing end-of-life support requests comprehensively. This approach enables individuals in crisis to access short-term assistance without navigating complicated eligibility processes, addressing a significant community need across the Sunshine Coast region.
