Donations help keep our shops stocked and raise funds for Mingary Care’s practical support. The FAQs below cover what we can accept, where to donate and how furniture collection works.

Frequently asked questions

What can I donate?
We welcome good-quality items that are clean, safe and ready for someone else to enjoy.

Accepted item examples
  • clothing and accessories
  • shoes and handbags
  • jewellery and linen
  • homewares and bric-a-brac
  • books
  • toys and collectables
  • furniture
A useful rule of thumb is to ask whether the item is in a condition you’d be happy to pass on to someone else. If you’re not sure about something, just get in touch before bringing it in.
Is there anything you can’t accept?
Yes. While we’re very grateful for donations, there are a few things we can’t take because they aren’t safe or practical for us to resell.

Not accepted
  • items that are damaged, dirty or not in good resaleable condition
  • beds or mattresses
  • glass tables
Furniture and larger items are a little different, what we can take depends on the space available in our shops and whether we have collection capacity at the time. If you’re unsure, send us a photo or give us a call before making the trip.
Where can I drop off donations?
You can bring suitable donations to our Mingary Care Op Shops in Maroochydore, Caloundra, Warana and Bli Bli. For furniture and larger items, please get in touch first and send us photos so we can confirm whether we’re able to take them.
Can Mingary Care collect furniture?
Sometimes, and the easiest place to start is with a photo. Text a few photos of the furniture you’d like to donate to [mobile number to confirm]. We’ll take a look and let you know whether it’s something we can accept and whether we have collection capacity at the time. For safety, we can only collect furniture where there is level access with no steps or stairs.
Can I volunteer at an Op Shop?
Absolutely. Our Op Shops have volunteer roles across customer service, sorting, styling, driving and other behind-the-scenes work. Volunteer with Mingary Care →
